When black works — and when to think twice
For a gala, a cocktail party, a corporate reception or a formal dinner, it is the safest choice there is.
All-black remains delicate, however, for a daytime religious ceremony, where it can read as too sombre. If you are a guest at a daytime wedding, our navy or burgundy collections offer the same restraint without that reservation.
Our cuts in black
All our dresses are full length. In satin, black catches the light and defines the line — it is the fabric of mermaid cuts and dresses with a train. In matte crepe, it smooths the contours and suits figures that satin defines too sharply. In lace or embroidered tulle, it adds texture where a plain surface can look flat. Available from XS to XXL.
Avoiding the too-plain effect
A plain black dress with no detail can quickly read as workwear. Three ways to dress it up: a fabric that catches the light (satin, sequins, beading), visible construction (draping, laced back, train), or bold accessories.
Style it with
Gold jewellery to warm it up, silver for a more graphic finish. Nude heels, which lengthen the leg where black heels cut the line. A coloured clutch — burgundy, gold or silver — is enough to lift the look out of the strictly formal.
