A colour that beadwork deepens
Few shades carry all-over embroidery as well as burgundy. This burgundy evening dress is covered entirely in lace re-embroidered with tone-on-tone beads and sequins, from the bodice to the hem of the train. Deep red absorbs light while the beads throw it back: the surface shifts from bright garnet to an almost black red depending on the angle. Burgundy also carries the character of red without its showiness, so the dress stays composed despite the density of the work.
Bare shoulders and a diagonal strap
The construction is concentrated at the top of the dress.
